History of the Formation of the Dentam Tourism Development Society:

A pivotal meeting was held on 07 July 2024 at SRK GPU, Gyalshing, in the Maneybong-Dentam Constituency, West Sikkim. The meeting was chaired by Hon’ble MLA-cum-Advisor Shri Sudesh Kumar Subba and attended by a distinguished group of dignitaries and stakeholders from the constituency. and also attended by Zilla Panchayat Member of Mangmoo - Begha Mr Dinesh Gurung, Zilla Panchayat Member of Maneybung -Sopakha Territorial Constituency Shri Keshar Man Limboo, Zilla Panchayat Member of Gitang-Karmatar Ms Devi Maya Chettri, Zilla Panchayat Members of Begha- Mangmoo Dentam , Panchayat President Mr Bhim Limboo along with all members of Maneybung GPU, Panchayat President Ms Munna Gurung and members of Sopakha GPU , NGOS executive members of entire Stakeholders of Uttarey - Maneybung-Sopakha, Jhankridhunga,Karmatar,Gitang, Sardong, Lungzik, Bongten, Hee,Martm, Radhu, Khandu, Sankhu, Bhalukhop, Lidung, Mangmoo,Begha, Dentam, Homestay owners, Hostelers,Tour operators, Paraglider pilots, trekking Guides, Trakking-cooks, Tour Guides, Yak & Dzoo owners even representative Executive members and stakeholder of Ribdi-Bharang-Okhrey and Yaksom and locals.
  The meeting focused on showcasing Sikkim’s rural tourism potential and promoting community-based eco/sustainable tourism activities.During the meeting, the decision was made to form a committee called the Dentam Tourism Development Society, with the following executive members nominated: President: Mr. R.B. Bista, General Secretary: Mr. Sher Bahadur Subba, Treasurer: Mrs. Savitri GurungThe formation of this committee is a significant step toward fostering sustainable tourism and improving local livelihoods in the region.
